Busy Weaving

Busy Weaving

It's cold outside. The weather has been crazy. Warm with sunshine and green grass a few weeks ago and now is windy, snow covered ground and cold again. This is the perfect weather to stay indoors and weave. These are a few of the pieces I'm working on. I love rag weaving. Some of the materials are recycled and I'm also using cotton yarn.

Stay warm.

Winter Weaving

Winter Weaving

It's been a bit of a funny winter. Not much snow this year but the weather has turned very cold. My thoughts have turned to weaving and I've been busy making some scarves.

This scarf is very soft, shades of pinks, from my stash. The label has been lost but I'm guessing acrylic. The scarf is 8 x 69" long with a 6" fringe.

This yarn is called Calypso from Emu, made in England. The yarn is 70% wool and 30 % acrylic. It washed up beautifully and is very soft. It has shades of pink, yellow, green, on a black background and feels like a party is about to take place. The scarf is 8 x 67" with a 6" fringe.

This scarf has woven up very fine in weight. The yarn is 88% acrylic, 7% Lurex and 5% polyester.
The Lurex is a gold thread in the yarn giving it a pretty gold sparkle. The scarf washed up beautifully and is very soft, no scratchy feel (given the gold Lurex)  to it at all. It measures 8 x 66" with a 6" fringe.

All heading to my Etsy shop.

Hugs and stay warm.

Another Shawl

Another Shawl

Another hand spun shawl made using my Romney fleece singles, this made the shawl a lot lighter and I like the effect. The boarder is hand dyed yarn and the main part of the shawl is natural dark brown  all hand spun.

It's been a while since I last posted. This has been a year of healing for me from some major health issues and other issues.

Thank you to everyone who has paid a visit to my blog and for your patience.
I've finally posted some more work in my etsy shop and I hope you will stop by for a visit.

Easter Scarves

Easter Scarves

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter.

I had fun spinning dying and crocheting these colourful Easter scarves. I used Magic carpet acid dyes sprinkled on top of my Romney roving to create these colours. It was all spontaneously done and I love the results.

The scarves were crocheted using a # 6 crochet hook and a triple crochet. These are fun to make and hook up fairly quickly.

Winter Shawls

Winter Shawls

It's been very cold here and I decided to crochet a few shawls. These are 2ply yarns from my stash,  hand spun and hand dyed Romney wool from my girls. The variegated yarn was used for the trim on the brown shawl.
